Augsburg/ Munich - FC Bayern München head coach Pep Guardiola is hopeful winger Arjen Robben will be fit in time for the FIFA Club World Cup, which begins on 18 December.

Destination Morocco

There were fears that the 29-year-old Dutch international may have suffered knee ligament damage following a collision with Augsburg goalkeeper Marwin Hitz in Wednesday’s 2-0 at FC Augsburg. However, the club have confirmed on their website that an initial diagnosis at a local hospital had instead revealed only a deep gash. "I hope Arjen can help us for the Club World Cup at the latest," Guardiola said. "I am really sorry for him, we didn't want that."

Robben has been in imperious form of late, scoring in each of his last four matches, but will now likely miss the Bundesliga clash with SV Werder Bremen at the weekend, as well as next week’s UEFA Champions group clash with Manchester City FC.

Bayern then welcome Hamburger SV on Matchday 16 of the Bundesliga, before travelling to Morocco, where they hope to seal new coach Pep Guardiola's second trophy following in the UEFA Super Cup in August.
