Hamburg/Frankfurt - The German Football Federation (DFB) board of directors have determined the start date of the 2014/15 Bundesliga campaign.

Final day set in stone

The league's 52nd season will commence on the weekend of Friday 22 to Sunday 24 August 2014, while Bundesliga 2 will begin three weeks earlier on 1 August.

Bundesliga Matchdays 1-17 and Bundesliga 2 Matchdays 1-19 will take place before the winter break. The Bundesliga will resume on the weekend of 30 January to 1 February 2015, with Bundesliga 2 following a week later on 6 February.

The 34th and final round of the top-flight season has been scheduled for Saturday 23 May 2015, with the second tier set to be concluded a day later. The relegation play-off matches for each division have been pencilled in for completion between 27 May and 3 June.

Busy in Berlin

The first round of the DFB Cup will kick off between 15 and 18 August 2014, with round two set for 28/29 October. The last sixteen fixtures will be played the following spring on 3 and 4 March 2015, the quarter-finals on 7 and 8 April and the semi-finals on 28 and 29 April. Berlin’s Olympic Stadium will, as ever, provide the venue for the final on 30 May.

That isn't the only showpiece event to be held in the nation’s capital, however. The final of the 2014/15 UEFA Champions League will also take place in the national stadium.
