Gelsenkirchen - FC Schalke 04 keeper has been ruled out of the Royal Blues' UEFA Champions League trip to FC Steaua Bucuresti.
The 34-year-old suffered a hip injury in Saturday's 3-3 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday and will now miss Tuesday's crucial encounter with the Romanian champions.
Ralf Fährmann, whose solitary Bundesliga appearance came against Eintracht Braunschweig on Matchday 9, will deputise for Hildebrand in Bucharest, while Lars Unnerstall will be among the substitutes.
