Stuttgart - Borussia Mönchengladbach turned in another impressive performance to take the points against VfB Stuttgart in Friday evening's Matchday 13 opener.

Borussia Mönchengladbach:

bundesliga.com gathered some of the post-match reactions from the protagonists on both sides, with the first word going to the victors...

Attacking midfielder Patrick Herrmann: We took a while to get into the match, Stuttgart were keeping it very tight. But we gradually improved and were well worth the win come the finish. Raffael put in a really great run to get on the end of my pass and hammer us in front. We've upped the level of our game and we're creating more chances than last season. We've three more home games before the winter break and we've been doing really well there. If we keep playing the way we are, we'll certainly pick up a few more points.

Defender and captain Martin Stranzl: We played smart, and I was pleased about that. In the end, we might have scored another goal. I also liked the way we pressed very high up the pitch. It was an intense contest, but it was fair. We controlled things well and Tony (Jantschke) did a good job again in the centre of the defence. He's a polyvalent player, as they say these days. We've actually got a few of them in our team, which is to our advantage. We've got some tough games ahead and if we want to stay in the mix at the top, we're going to have to stay focused and must not let the level of our game drop.

VfB Stuttgart:

Goalkeeper Sven Ulreich: We can certainly learn a thing or two from Borussia. They're very assured and have good movement on the ball. We keep falling into our old pattern. It's going to take time and these are things we need to address over the winter break. In the second half, nothing really worked out the way we wanted. Everyone's very frustrated, but what we have to do now is analyse it and improve.

Midfielder William Kvist: Gladbach were better, simple as that. They made it difficult for us. Just one home win [so far this season] isn't good enough. I don't know what it's down to. Gladbach were clearly functioning better as a team this evening. That's something we're still working on. They played a good pressing game and were very strong up front.
