Munich - If you're a fan of net-busting rockets and record-breaking runs, you won't have been disappointed with Matchday 12 in the Bundesliga.

Son shines brightest

Luckily for us, we didn't have to select the weekend's standout performer. That's where you came in, the bundesliga.com user...

Clicking by the bucket load, you helped catapult a certain South Korea international back into the spotlight following his hat-trick heroics for Bayer 04 Leverkusen on Saturday afternoon. Yes, that's right folks, Heung Min Son is our outright winner - and deservedly so (52 per cent).

The Werkself summer signing was at his clinical best on Matchday 12 in a goal-fuelled 5-3 win over former club Hamburger SV, penning his own chapter of Bundesliga history as the first-ever South Korean to score a hat-trick in Germany's top flight. Quite rightly, Son left the Bay Arena to a standing ovation.

Set-piece sensations

There was a tie for second, with VfB Stuttgart's Vedad Ibisevic and FC Bayern München's Franck Ribery sharing the podium on this occasion (13 per cent). The Bosnia-Herzegovina international scored his eighth league strike of the campaign in Sunday's win over SC Freiburg, while Bayern's Ballon d'Or candidate bagged a stunning free kick as the record-writing league leaders cast aside the challenge of FC Augsburg.

Not to be outdone in the dead-ball stakes, VfL Wolfsburg's Ricardo Rodriguez came within a whisker of taking silver (eleven per cent) after netting a free kick of his own that set the Wolves on the road to victory over Borussia Dortmund at the VW Arena and to within a point of the top four.

Comeback kings

Kevin-Prince Boateng's brace also deserves a mention (six per cent). FC Schalke 04 were trailing at home to Werder Bremen, before the Ghanaian powered home two bullet headers to turn the game on its head.

Continuing a theme, Juan Arango completes the ballot (five per cent). His trademark curling strike was the catalyst for Borussia Mönchengladbach's 3-1 win over 1. FC Nürnberg, with the Venezuela international chipping in with an assist for good measure.
