Augsburg - In spite of a full-throttle attacking effort, FC Augsburg had to settle for a point at home to Borussia Mönchengladbach, who once again had Max Kruse to thank for an outstanding performance as they picked up their first point on the road this season.

: It was a near-perfect night for me. It would have been great if we had been able to take all three points with us as I feel like we deserved them. We played really well, fought hard, but it’s a shame that we let ourselves fall behind in the game. It was incredible the way in which our fans supported us tonight. We’re all working really well together and are putting in strong performances.

Halil Altintop: The difference was that they made a lot of a little, while we failed to make the most of our clear-cut goalscoring opportunities. It’s difficult to explain why we couldn’t get ourselves back in front, but we shouldn’t underestimate the importance of experience. Gladbach are a side that boast a lot of experience and we saw that after we took the lead, as they continued to play in a calm manner, posing a huge threat on the counter-attack. Despite all that I have to compliment the team for still believing in themselves and earning a more than deserved point having gone 2-1 down in the second half.

Borussia Mönchengladbach

: When you concede an equaliser so close to the end, then you can never be fully satisfied. It was a bitter pill to swallow at the end of the game. In the context of the whole game though we have to accept taking just a point. Both teams were extremely effective tonight and there was a real combative edge to the encounter The team had to get stuck into the match from the very first minute because we really wanted to take something from the game. I also have to praise FC Augsburg though, they have undergone a really positive development and are playing incredibly well right now. You also have to honour that.

: When you’re leading 2-1 in Augsburg, you’ve got to make sure you take all three points. If you want to get where we want to get to, so I’m talking about finishing between fifth and eighth place, then we've got to win games like these. Obviously I’m delighted with my goal and the fact I managed to add another assist to my tally. It’s really positive that I’ve settled in so well. Nevertheless after dropping two points, the overriding feeling is of annoyance.
