Sinsheim - 1899 Hoffenheim's Kevin Volland admitted he is "playing really well at the moment" as he inspired his team to a 2-1 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach. For the Foals' Granit Xhaka, however, poor defending and a lack of penetration were to blame for their third straight defeat of the season.

bundesliga.com rounds up the key protagonists' views...

Kevin Volland: I'm playing really well at the moment. I had a good pre-season, the squad is really confident and it's fun playing in this team. We fought so hard for the win. For my goal, it was a great pass from Anthony [Modeste] and I'm glad it went in.

Andreas Beck: A huge compliment to the team today. We had far less possession than Gladbach, but we were compact, restricted the space for them and made the most of our counter-attacking situations. We found the right balance between defence and attack.

Granit Xhaka: We played well over the 90 minutes, but we didn't make the most of our chances, which was a real shame. We also conceded two soft goals at bad times, and it took us a while to get going again. We got one goal back, but we couldn't find an equaliser, and fair play to Hoffenheim for that. We needed to be more clinical today.

Filip Daems: We had lots of possession but didn't create too many chances. We weren't composed enough in the final third and that's disappointing. We also conceded the two goals far too cheaply.
