Schmid signs contract extension
Freiburg - SC Freiburg midfielder Jonathan Schmid has signed a contract extension with the Black Forest club.

The news could hardly have come at a better time as the side look to pick up their first win of the season at FC Augsburg this coming weekend.
"We're pleased that Jonny has decided to stay on at Freiburg," beamed sporting director Klemens Hartenbach. "He's a local lad, who's come a long way and become one of the first team's key performers."
After a summer of upheaval in the SC Freiburg squad there's no doubting that head coach Christian Streich will be delighted to see one of his most influential players commiting himself to the club long-term and for his part, Schmid was just as happy: "I'm pleased that I will be staying in the region for the foreseeable future. It's important to me to be near my home town, but above all to be able to play in Europe for such a great team like Freiburg."
The club has not provided any terms or details regarding the length of contract.
