Munich - FC Bayern Munich will prove a tough nut to crack in 2013/14, according to bundesliga.com users.

Solid foundations the key

As ever, fans of the site voted by the bucket load as we asked which team will concede the fewest goals in the season ahead, with one resounding winner.

66 per cent of those who voted tipped another stingy display from Manuel Neuer. The Germany No1 shipped fewer goals than any other Bundesliga custodian last season, surpassing legendary custodian Oliver Kahn to set a new club and league record of just 18 goals against in 2012/13.

Dortmund's Roman Weidenfeller let a considerably higher number of efforts through his grasp last term (BVB conceded 42 goals in 2012/13). Despite the arrival of Sokratis Papastathopoulos, only 18 per cent of you think the Yellow-Blacks have what it takes to be top defensive dog come May.

Leverkusen keeping things tight

Bayer 04 Leverkusen, who gave away three fewer than Dortmund last season, are expected to drop down to third in the goals-against table (five per cent of the poll). They may have lost Daniel Carvajal, but Giulio Donati has arrived and coach Sami Hyypiä fully expects the Italy Under-21 defender to deliver in the Bundesliga.

“Giulio Donati's job will be to keep things tight down the right at the back and get forward as appropriate as well. He's making a solid impression and we'll see how things develop over the season,” he told bundesliga.com in an exclusive interview .

Schalke and Freiburg bringing up the rear

FC Schalke 04, who have strengthened their rearguard with the signing of Felipe Santana, SC Freiburg and the rest of the Bundesliga pack for that matter are not expected to overly frustrate their top-flight contemporaries in the defensive stakes this season, winning only eleven per cent of the vote between them.
