Hamburg - Hamburger SV have completed their first signing under new sporting director Oliver Kreuzer, snapping up Jacques Zoua from FC Basel.

"Great club in this great city"

The 21-year-old forward, who has made three senior appearances for Cameroon, put pen to paper on a three-year deal with the Bundesliga's only ever-present club after passing his medical on Monday.

In his four years at Basel, Zoua racked up 86 matches in the Swiss top flight, netting 14 goals. His coach there for the first two years was Thorsten Fink - now of course in the hot seat at Hamburg and accordingly already well acquainted with the Red Shorts' new recruit. "He's still young, but he already has plenty of Super League experience under his belt, and he's going to develop further," Oliver Kreuzer said of the new man.

For his part, Zoua told the hsv.de website, "I'm very happy to be here at this great club, in this great city. Hamburg are a fantastic club and it's a huge thing for me to be playing in the Bundesliga. That apart, Thorsten Fink certainly played a role as well in my decision to move here. I also spoke with our national team coach Volker Finke, and he filled me in on what great tradition HSV have. He's confident a move to the Bundesliga will be very good for me and for my development as a footballer."
