Frankfurt - After enjoying an impressive 22-year career with Eintracht Frankfurt, veteran goalkeeper Oka Nikolov has stated his desire to move abroad to the USA.

“Eintracht are my one and only”

As a result, the Eagles have agreed to release the 39-year-old from his one-year contract, effective immediately as of 18 June 2013, in order that he may pursue his wish to ply his trade across the Atlantic Ocean.

The Macedonian keeper, who was born in Erbach, Germany before joining Eintracht Frankfurt at the age of 17, has been a loyal servant to the club, making 414 appearances in all competitions, which include 229 in Germany’s top flight. Frankfurt chairman Heribert Bruchhagen was delighted “for Oka that he’s able to realise his long-term ambition before the end of his prominent career”.

The decision to leave the Eagles was not an easy one for Nikolov. “Eintracht are my one and only. I had an absolutely incredible time with this fantastic team and I would like to thank both the club and the fans. However, throughout my career an opportunity to move to America and expand my horizons was always a dream of mine and one which I hope to fulfill now.”
