Mönchengladbach - After ensuring they survived their fourth Bundesliga campaign by the skin of their teeth, 1899 Hoffenheim have announced the permanent signing of Igor de Camargo.

”We wish him all the best”

The 30-year-old former Belgian international had initially joined the Sinsheim side on loan until the end of the season in January and has since made eight appearances, scoring once.

However, in retaining their Bundesliga status with a 5-2 aggregate win over Bundesliga 2 side 1. FC Kaiserslautern, 1899 activated a clause in the loan deal, which meant it automatically became a permanent signing. “Igor played an important role in the two-and-a-half years he spent with our club,” explained Borussia Mönchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl. “We wish him all the best for his time at 1899 Hoffenheim.”

Igor de Camargo joined Gladbach from Belgian side Standard Liege in July 2010 and went on to make 74 appearances in all competitions for the Foals for who he found the net on 19 occasions. However, his most important goal was undoubtedly the last-minute strike in a 1-0 win against VfL Bochum 1848 during the relegation play-off first leg two years ago.
