Dortmund - may well have played his last game for Borussia Dortmund after tearing muscles in his thigh during Tuesday night’s dramatic UEFA Champions League semi-final with Real Madrid CF.

Swansong

Götze, who leaves Dortmund for FC Bayern Munich in the summer, pulled up after less than 15 minutes of the game with an injury which, in the worst-case scenario, would keep him out of action for five weeks.

In view of Dortmund’s aggregate victory over Real, it is now certain that their last game of the season will be on 25 May at Wembley Stadium in the Champions League final. That gives Götze little over three weeks to recover in order to be fit for a Dortmund swansong in London. “We’re just going to have to see; I don’t know right now,” the 20-year-old commented.

Götze has definitely been ruled out of Saturday’s clash with his future club. “It’s all going to be very tight,” predicted Dortmund coach Jürgen Klopp. “We’re just going to have to see who we can field (on Saturday). It’s not like we have that many left to choose from.” Götze has not let the injury dampen his spirits, though, and he posted a picture of him wearing a T-shirt saying “Wembley calling!" on his Facebook account.
