Wolfsburg - VfL Wolfsburg have agreed terms with Bundesliga rivals SC Freiburg over the transfer of attacking midfielder Daniel Caligiuri ahead of next season.

"Perfect fit for the team"

The 25-year-old has agreed on a four-year contract with the Wolves and will leave Freiburg after four years in the Black Forest.

"We're delighted to have been able to get on board at VfL," said Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs. "He has been one of Freiburg's key players, not only this season, and will certainly strengthen us in the coming season."

"Daniel makes us even more variable since he can play on either side of the field out wide. He's the ideal fit for our team," added coach Dieter Hecking, who is looking forward to working with the Villingen-Schweningen-born midfielder.

Looking forward to new challenge

Caligiuri believes he will fit in "perfectly" in his new surroundings, but has stressed that his commitment to Freiburg for the remaining four games of the season will not waver. "There are several players here who harmonise well with my style of play," he said. "I'm looking forward to this new challenge from the summer, but now my full concentration is on the last four games with SC."
