Dortmund - Robert Lewandowski will be eligible to play for Borussia Dortmund in their next Bundesliga game against Hannover 96 on Saturday after an initial three-game suspension for a red card was reduced to two games on appeal.

Served his time

Lewandowski was given his marching orders after 31 minutes of Dortmund’s defeat to Hamburger SV on February 9.

The Polish international has already missed Dortmund’s Bundesliga matches against Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Mönchengladbach, but will now return after his club were successful in their appeal against the initial sanction. Lewandowski’s suspension was reduced to two games on Friday.

“I’m delighted that I’ll be able to play for Dortmund on Saturday,” said the striker. His club also expressed their satisfaction at the outcome of their appeal. “We’re very pleased that we fought and used everything within our means (to obtain this result),” said the club’s sporting director Hans-Joachim Watzke.
