Leverkusen sign Boenisch
Leverkusen - Bayer 04 Leverkusen have announced the signing of Polish international Sebastian Boenisch. The defender, who had been without a club since leaving SV Werder Bremen at the end of last season, has signed a performance-related contract with the Werkself until the end of the current campaign.
Long-term injuries to defenders Michal Kadlec and Daniel Schwaab meant coach Sami Hyppiä was forced to look for defensive cover and the availability of Boenisch, a seasoned Bundesliga player, gave rise to the deal.
"I'm delighted to have come to an agreement with such an ambitious club as Leverkusen," the 25-year-old said. "I'm highly motivated and will give everything to help this club achieve its aims."
