Nuremberg - There is a case to say that Timothy Chandler is the perfect embodiment of 1. FC Nuremberg's topsy-turvy form so far this season. The right-back made a brilliant start to the campaign before, like his side, suffering a severe dip in form.

Seven points from the first three games were swiftly followed by six matches without a victory, but all that changed on Saturday as and Co. secured a narrow 1-0 win against VfL Wolfsburg.

Question: Timothy Chandler, Nuremberg looked fresh against Wolfsburg, after collecting only a point from the previous six matches...

Timothy Chandler: The success was the release we'd all been hoping for and it's very much down to the support from our fans, who never stopped encouraging us, even though things haven't gone our way of late. I believe we totally deserved to win.

Question: What was the key to success?

Chandler: We played well going forward and all remained calm. We're just incredibly happy to have won.

Question: After a difficult period, how did you personally manage to perform so well against Wolfsburg?

Chandler: I kept my cool as well. I believe I played well today, but I agree that I haven't been at my best recently. The coach [Dieter Hecking] kept faith in me because he knows about my abilities. And I do, too.

Question: How would you describe your assist for Gebhart's decisive header?

Chandler: I intended to chip the ball to the far post. Then, Timo Gebhart burst in and netted brilliantly.

Question: The last weeks were rather turbulent, so how did the team manage to go into the game looking so relaxed?

Chandler: We had a good week in training. The coach repeatedly stressed to us the importance of not letting things get to us and to stay calm. We know we can do well. Also, we stuck together as a team today.

Question: What were your thoughts when the final whistle came and the winless streak finally ended?

Chandler: Well, I think the fans saw how much we enjoyed it, just from looking at our faces. Likewise, we saw how happy they were when we went to them after the game. Our fans are behind us, that's for sure.

Question: Did you get the feeling at some point during the game that there wouldn't be much to fear, given how toothless Wolfsburg looked?

Chandler: I did, but I also believe that we did well in continuously putting Wolfsburg's players under pressure and forcing them to lose possession. I think that explains why they didn't get a proper grip on the game.

Question: Did today's game remind you of your opening three encounters? Nuremberg made a great start into the season, after all.

Chandler: I actually believe today was our best performance of the season in footballing terms. A lot of our success at the start of the campaign came from set pieces, but today we really created our chances.
