Frankfurt - The start of the 50th Bundesliga campaign this Friday is all about tradition. As part of the season opener, "Stars from the start", Hans Tilkowski (Borussia Dortmund) and Arnold "Pico" Schütz (SV Werder Bremen), will carry the championship plate onto the pitch at the Signal Iduna Park, before league president Dr. Reinhard Rauball officially ushers in the new campaign.

Hans Tilkowski and Arnold "Pico" Schütz were on opposite sides of the field when their two clubs met inside the Weserstadion during the first ever Bundesliga Matchday on 24 August 1963 (result: 3-2). In goal for BVB at the time was 39-time German international goalkeeper Hans Tilkowski, who won the European Cup with the Westfalen outfit in 1966. "Pico" Schütz, who picked up a league winners medal in 1965 with Bremen en route to making 253 Bundesliga appearances, scoring 69 goals in the process, netted in the 46th minute of the match to put SV Werder Bremen 2-1 ahead against Borussia Dortmund.

Coverage of the opening encounter for reigning champions Borussia Dortmund, against SV Werder Bremen, will begin at 20:30 CEST live on Sky, ARD and Liga Total!
