Karlsruher SC ended a three-match losing streak thanks to a narrow 1-0 win at home to SpVgg Greuther Fürth.

Karlsruher SC 1-0 SpVgg Greuther Fürth

After a tepid first-half with chances few and far between, Karlsruhe went up a gear soon after the break, with Jonas Meffert and Hiroki Yamada going close to breaking the deadlock. Fürth’s Sebastian Mielitz pulled off a fine save to deny Manuel Torres, but the former SV Werder Bremen stopper was powerless to prevent Dimitris Diamantakos from bundling in the loose ball.

Fürth offered little by way of a response and in the end were lucky not to lose by a more convincing scoreline, with Yamada, Torres and Boubacar Barry squandering a trio of presentable opportunities to extend Karlsruhe’s lead in the closing stages.
