Stefan Effenberg saw his SC Paderborn 07 side throw away the lead to draw 1-1 at home to 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 on Sunday.
The former Germany international midfielder started his reign at the club with successive wins, and after drawing with FSV Frankfurt 1899 last time out, looked like he might get a welcome victory courtesy of Süleyman Koc’s superb 39th-minute volley.
However, just as in the previous outing, Paderborn were unable to hold on to their advantage.
Adriano Grimaldi levelled 20 minutes into the second half to leave Heidenheim three points off the top three and Effenberg's men just a place and three points clear of the bottom three.
