Besar Halimi's late goal earned FSV Frankfurt a 1-1 draw against Stefan Effenberg's SC Paderborn 07 at the Benteler-Arena.
After a cagey opening to the game, the East Westphalians took the lead on 32 minutes when Nick Proschwitz headed home Khaled Narey's pin-point cross. The 28-year-old had a powerful effort blocked by Florian Ballas soon afterwards as Effenberg's troops ended the half in the ascendancy.
Paderborn continued to dominate proceedings after the restart and after Florian Hartherz had forced Frankfurt keeper Andre Weis into a smart save, Proschwitz spurned a glorious opportunity to double the hosts' lead when he fired over the crossbar from point-blank range. Paderborn paid dearly for their striker's profligacy when Halimi latched onto Fanol Perdedaj's through-ball, dribbled past four home defenders and curled the ball into the far corner to earn the visitors a hard-earned point.
