Karlsruhe - Karlsruher SC slipped out of the automatic promotion places on Matchday 20 after being held to a 1-1 draw at home to ten-man Fortuna Düsseldorf.

The hosts took the initiative from the off, getting forward at every opportunity down the flanks, but were unable to create many chances of note as their guests sat deep and waited to counter-attack. The tide of the game swung further in their favour when Düsseldorf defender Jonathan Tah was sent off for a second bookable offence in the 39th minute but the guests held on until the break.

Karlsruher took the lead shortly after the interval, however, thanks to Rouwen Hennings' smart finish from a free-kick. Düsseldorf had looked harmless in attack until then, but sparked into life once they went behind and equalised five minutes later, with Oliver Fink heading in from a set-piece. Despite dropping points, the result still leaves both teams within touching distance of second-placed 1. FC Kaiserslautern.
