Düsseldorf - Hosts Fortuna Düsseldorf couldn't reduce FC Ingolstadt 04's five-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga 2 after the sides played out a 0-0 draw on Matchday 12.

As befits a top-of-the-table clash, Düsseldorf and Ingolstadt began excitingly with Sergio Pinto and Alfredo Morales trading shots from distance in the opening quarter of an hour. Thereafter, Ingolstadt’s high-pressure game consistently forced Düsseldorf into mistakes with their final ball. The guests retained a threat on the counter through Mathew Leckie, although the best chance of the opening period fell to Düsseldorf’s Michael Liendl just before the break, whose shot was blocked.

The second half ebbed and flowed, as Fortuna began on top, but Ingolstadt rolled with the punches to find their way back into the game through their favoured method of set-pieces. Ingolstadt skipper Marvin Matip squandered the best chance of the game when his header hit the post in the 65th minute. Liendl and Lukas Hinterseer then had chances at either end, and despite Moritz Hartmann’s best efforts for Ingolstadt and Charlison Benschop's for Düsseldorf, nothing could separate the league’s leading duo.
