Leipzig - RB Leipzig kept pace near the Bundesliga 2 summit after collecting an invaluable 2-0 victory against fellow promotion-hopefuls VfL Bochum 1848 on Friday evening.

Bochum enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges, but didn't help their cause when Fabian Holthaus inadvertently headed Dominik Kaiser's corner into his own net. A lack of penetration inhibited the visitors, who fell further behind before half time when Daniel Frahn was afforded two bites at the cherry having broken the offside trap to steer the ball past Andreas Luthe.

Peter Neururer's charges threw the kitchen sink at the newly-promoted outfit throughout the second half and came within a lick of paint of reducing the arrears when Danny Latza struck the woodwork in the 51st minute, with top goalscorer Simon Terodde failing to convert the rebound. In the end Leipzig's smart defending was enough for them to clinch a comfortable victory on home soil.
