Nuremberg - Alessandro Schöpf’s 74th-minute strike was enough to earn 1. FC Nürnberg a 1-0 win at home to RB Leipzig.

Clear-cut goalscoring chances were at a premium in a low-key first half, with both sides lacking the necessary creativity in the final third, although Jakub Sylvestr should have given Nürnberg the lead 17 minutes into the game but instead fired wide of the target from the edge of the six-yard box.

The game then sparked into life shortly after the hour-mark. Nürnberg’s Niclas Füllkrug came close to notching the lead for the hosts, but the Franconians’ efforts eventually paid dividends when Schöpf curled a neat 20-yard strike into the corner to finish a flowing move. There were chances at both ends as the game progressed, Anthony Jung missing the best opportunity to bring Leipzig level, but Nürnberg managed to hold on to register their fourth win of the season.
