Kaiserslautern - 1. FC Kaiserslautern assumed temporary control atop the Bundesliga 2 standings after coasting to a 2-0 win over ten-man Karlsruher SC on Saturday.

The visitors took the game to the Red Devils in the opening exchanges, but paid the price for such a gallant approach as Srjdan Lakic headed home a cross from Marcel Gaus with 23 minutes gone. Kevin Stöger spurned a great opportunity to add a second, but Gaus made no such mistake with a fine strike from 13 yards out. Karlsruher's Manuel Torres saw red as Kaiserslautern turned the screw, with Dominique Heintz spooning over what looked a sure-fire third late on.
