Hamburg - 1860 Munich picked up their first victory of the season thanks to a 2-1 victory away to FC St. Pauli.

After an evenly-balanced opening the visitors went in front through Leonardo’s penalty, but subsequently the Lions were far too passive, allowing Pauli to dominate proceedings. The hosts deservedly equalised through John Verhoek’s well-taken goal, only for 1860 to go in front again on the stroke of half-time when Yannick Stark finished off a delightful move.

After the restart Ricardo Moniz’s 1860 side sat deep in their own half, content to protect their lead with compact defending in numbers. The home team endeavoured to break through, but a lack of attacking creativity prevented them from doing so and their efforts soon waned, consigning new Pauli coach Thomas Meggle to defeat in his first game in charge and leaving die Kiezkicker with just four points to show from their first five games.
