Ingolstadt - Benjamin Hübner scored against his former club to earn FC Ingolstadt 04 a place at the top of the Bundesliga 2 with a comfortable 4-1 win over VfR Aalen.

Stefan Lex gave the hosts the lead in the 11th minute with a neat backheeled finish from Pascal Groß' cross. The Bavarians then had a goal disallowed with Groß curling in a free-kick from near the left touchline, but a foul was given as two defenders went to ground inside the six-yard box.

Ingolstadt nevertheless looked comfortable until Michael Klaus' cross was turned in almost unintentionally by Ludwig's chest, allowing Aalen to celebrate their first goal away from home this season. It was not enough for a point, though, with their former player Hübner sending in a bullet header, but choosing not to celebrate out of respect for his former team-mates.

Mathew Leckie hit the post with Lex missing the rebound as Ingolstadt tried to turn the screw, succeeding when the Australian raced through to seal victory before a late own goal from Andre Hainault compounded Aalen's woes.
