Aue - Bundesliga 2 side FC Erzgebirge Aue have taken a further step towards trying to ensure their survival this season after announcing the appointment of Tomislav Stipic as head coach on Tuesday.

Currently sitting at the foot of the standings having made their worst-ever start to a Bundesliga 2 campaign, Aue opted to part ways with head coach Falko Götz at the start of the month. Stipic, who has left his post as FC Ingolstadt 04’s Under-23 boss, now takes charge with the clear remit of avoiding relegation after putting pen to paper on a two-year deal.

“Naturally, I see this commitment as a huge sporting opportunity and am delighted with the confidence Aue have shown in me to guide them through this difficult sporting situation,” said Stipic. “I’d like to thank Ingolstadt for the enjoyable cooperation and for their understanding.”
