Aue - Fortuna Düsseldorf romped to a 3-0 victory over FC Erzgebirge Aue to register their first three points of the season.

Having lost once and drawn twice ahead of their trip to Aue, Fortuna started with clear intentions of recording their first victory of the campaign and centre-forward Erwin Hoffer found the net within two minutes, to the obvious delight of coach Oliver Reck. His side didn’t stop there, however, as six minutes after the first goal Hoffer’s strike partner Charlison Benschop managed to convert a tricky chance to double the visitor’s lead.

The early advantage gave the Düsseldorf the confidence they had lacked in previous games, and they began to impose themselves on a dispririted Aue, moving the ball with poise and precision. After the break, it was much the same story as Hoffer notched his second goal of the game five minutes after the restart. Düsseldorf were never threatened at the other end, limiting their hosts to hopeful strikes from distance in the closing stages.

The result lifts Reck’s charges to eight place, while Aue’s fourth consecutive defeat means they remain propping up the table.
