Darmstadt - Promoted Darmstadt's dream start to life in the Bundesliga 2 continued with a 2-0 win over VfR Aalen.

As expected, Aalen’s experience at this level stood them in good stead ahead of their visit to Darmstadt, who were put under pressure by their visitors immediately. Nejmeddin Daghfous was a thorn in their left-hand side, as his tricky play created chance after first-half chance for lone striker Dominick Drexler.

Aalen continued the stronger as the second-half began, but were stunned by Hanno Behrens’ rocket of a shot from the edge of the box on the hour mark. The goal was the signal for the game to turn, and the hosts poured forward, making their visitors rue their earlier misses when Dominik Stroh-Engel’s third goal of the season settled affairs from the penalty spot with ten minutes remaining.

The 2-0 victory means Darmstadt jump to joint second position, while Aalen remain in ninth with four points.
