Frankfurt - RasenBallsport Leipzig will be permitted to compete in next season's Bundesliga 2 competition, the Deutsche Fußball Liga GmbH confirmed on Thursday.

After discussions between club officials, the Saxony club have agreed to comply with DFL rules and will receive a licence to take their place in the second tier for the 2014/15 campaign.

"After expressly agreeing to accommodate more independent personalities within the club's committees, as well as to the amendment of the club's current badge in line with directives from UEFA, RasenBallsport Leipzig fulfil the basic requirements needed in order to compete in German professional football," explained Harald Strutz, DFL vice-president. "There is now no obstacle to their receiving a licence to take their place in Bundesliga 2."
