Berlin - 1. FC Kaiserslautern's hopes of promotion hang by a thread after dropping points in a 1-1 draw away to 1. Union Berlin in the Matchday 32 curtain-closer.

The Red Devils' evening got off to a poor start when they fell behind after just nine minutes when a long ball over the top found Union's Sören Brandy, who held off two defenders before lobbing the ball over Tobias Sippel. The hosts were the brighter of the two but Kaiserslautern still managed to equalise before half time when Srdjan Lakic headed in at the back post. There was plenty of fight after the interval but goalscoring chances were at a premium and neither side was able to add to the scoreline. The result leaves Lautern in fourth place, three points behind Greuther Furth in the promotion play-off spot, with only two games left to play.
