Paderborn - SC Paderborn are on the verge of completing an historic promotion to the Bundesliga after a 2-0 win over SV Sandhausen took them up to second in Bundesliga 2 with two games to go.

Sandhausen gave as good as they got for 40 minutes before Mahir Saglik wasted a glorious chance to put the hosts in front inside a packed Benteler-Arena. A red card for Stefan Kulovits, who was booked twice in just three minutes, played into Paderborn's hands, and they broke the deadlock soon after. Marc Vucinovic sent in a low cross from the right which Süleyman Koc converted from close range.

The relief was palpable, and that turned to outright joy in the 82nd minute when Seyi Olajangbesi fouled Mario Vrancic inside the penalty area, allowing Saglik to hand Paderborn the ticket to the Bundesliga, which they now need to keep hold of for 180 more minutes.
