Aue - FC Erzgebirge Aue secured their Bundesliga 2 status after a 2-0 victory in the second Saxon derby of the season at home to SG Dynamo Dresden.

The visitors had needed a win to drag themselves clear of the relegation play-off place, but they got off to the worst possible of starts as Michael Fink headed Aue in front, before Frank Löning added a second with a delightful chip following a goalkeeping error from Benjamin Kirsten.

Dresden attempted a fightback, but Martin Männel produced an outstanding double save to thwart Mickael Pote and Vincenzo Grifo fired over, as the away side’s hopes faded in the Sparkassen-Erzgebirgsstadion. Olaf Janssen’s Dresden remain three points adrift of the safety of 15th spot, but Aue can look forward to a fourth campaign in the second tier next season.
