Berlin - 1. FC Köln moved closer to securing the Bundesliga 2 title and the accompanying automatic promotion to the top flight after coming from behind to beat 1. FC Union Berlin on Friday evening.

The hosts began brightly and took an early lead when Martin Dausch's superbly controlled half-volley at the back post flew past visiting keeper Timo Horn. Köln laboured to break down a well-drilled home side but were handed a lifeline after 25 minutes when Slawomir Peszko was brought down by Roberto Puncec in the box. Patrick Helmes stepped up to convert the ensuing penalty and shift momentum to the Billy Goats. The forward was on target again after the break, curling a delightful free-kick around the wall and into the bottom corner to ensure the guests went home with all three points.
