Ingolstadt - FC Ingolstadt 04 moved into the relative safety of eleventh place courtesy of a convincing 3-0 win over ten-men VfL Bochum 1848 on Tuesday night.

In a first-half bereft of clear-cut goalscoring chances it was the hosts who drew first blood when Caiuby was felled inside the area allowing Philipp Hofmann to convert from the spot shortly before the half-hour mark. With the security of the opening goal behind, Ingolstadt’s plight was further aided soon after the restart when Adnan Zahirovic picked up two bookable offences within the space of 60 seconds. The hosts capitalised on the man advantage as Karl-Heinz Lappe and Hofman rounded out the scoring to leave Bochum just four points off the relegation zone.
