Bochum - VfL Bochum picked up a crucial three points to ease their relegation worries at the expense of VfR Aalen with a 2-0 road victory.

Mirkan Aydin poked the ball home from close range midway through the first half of a scrappy encounter, predictably so given the stakes in this relegation battle. Bochum's experience seemed to be the only real difference between the two sides and they did not panic when Robert Lechleiter reeled away in celebration before the break – his goal did not count for offside.

It was not until the second minute of stoppage time that Heiko Butscher sealed the spoils for Peter Neururer's men, who closed to within a point of their hosts in the Bundesliga 2 standings.
