Cottbus - FC Energie Cottbus' spirited second-half recovery went unrewarded as they were left rooted to the foot of Bundesliga 2 after going down 3-2 at home to FC Erzgebirge Aue.

Two goals in the space of three minutes from Frank Löning put Aue on their way to victory, his first a header from close range and his second a cool chip after some sloppy Cottbus defending. Jakub Sylvestr added a third in the 36th minute and Rico Benatelli almost made it four on the stroke of half-time when he headed straight at Rene Renno.

Fresh from ending a nine-game losing streak last weekend, Cottbus fought back with Marco Stiepermann reducing the arrears immediately in the second half. Stiepermann then set up a grandstand finish with a second goal for the hosts from the penalty spot, but Aue managed to hold on for all three points.
