Sandhausen - Patrick Helmes scored the only goal of the game as 1. FC Köln extended their lead at the top of Bundesliga 2 to six points with victory at SV Sandhausen.

Having lost to SC Paderborn last time out, the visitors seemed determined to make amends against a Sandhausen side who had beaten Energie Cottbus 1-0 on Matchday 20. Anthony Ujah could have given the visitors the lead after 25 minutes, but the Nigerian failed to control the ball and Manuel Riemann was able to gather.

Marcel Risse's 20-yard-strike cannoned of the crossbar just before the interval as the first half ended goalless. Two minutes after the restart, however, Helmes got on the end of Yannick Gerhardt's flick-on to head home his seventh goal of the season. Despite some late pressure from the hosts, Köln held on to move six points clear of second-placed SpVgg Greuther Fürth.
