Cologne - 1. FC Köln strengthened their grip on the top spot of the Bundesliga 2 after dispatching of SG Dynamo Dresden with a 3-1 win on home soil.

With their eyes set on a win to consolidate their position at the Bundesliga 2 summit, Köln began confidently, enjoying dominance of possession. After 14 minutes of action, Patrick Helmes opened the scoring with a wonderfully-controlled right-footed volley to plunge Dresden into disarray. Ten minutes later, after a Dresden corner, Helmes added a second to his account and to his club's with a clever finish past Benjamin Kirsten.

Miso Brecko netted Köln's third after the half-time break with a dipping effort from long-range and although Mohamed Aoudia reduced the arrears after 56 minutes, the Billy-Goats closed the game out calmly to ensure they'd remain at the top of the table following Matchday 18.
