Hamburg - FC St. Pauli bounced back from last week's hammering against 1. FC Kaiserslautern with a dominant performance to put visitors FC Energie Cottbus to the sword with a 3-0 victory.

Over 28,000 fans flocked to the Millerntor stadium to watch Pauli take on the league's bottom club, but the hosts didn't have things all their own way, at least initially. However, once opened the scoring in the 34th minute the guests never looked like recovering. Second-half strikes from Sebastian Schachten and Markus Thorandt ended any hopes Cottbus might have had of a fightback, leaving the visitors rooted to the bottom of the table after a third straight defeat. Worryingly, Cottbus have now gone five consecutive games without scoring and have failed to hit the net in seven of their last eight league matches.
