Hamburg - FC St. Pauli lost ground on league leaders Greuther Fürth, as SC Paderborn 07 collected three points for the first time on foreign soil this season courtesy of a 2-1 win.

Paderborn's humble league position belied their efforts at repelling, and even quelling, a confident St. Pauli side. Jon Verhoek and Fin Bartels had good chances for the hosts in the early stages, but Paderborn's regular long-range efforts and tougher midfield battling as the half progressed kept the Pauli at arms length.

Paderborn went one further than keeping their hosts honest after the break, catching Pauli cold when Mahir Saglik slid the ball into the bottom corner four minutes after the restart. Die Kiezkicker levelled the scores when Christopher Nöthe put the finishing touches on a fine counter-attacking move, but it wasn't enough to take a share of the spoils as Johannes Wurtz grabbed the winner with twelve minutes remaining to hand Paderborn their first away win of the season.
