Ingolstadt - FC St. Pauli finally put away a spirited FC Ingolstadt 04 side with a late 2-1 victory.

Cellar-dwellers Ingolstadt offered little in an error-strewn first-half, which was illuminated by a touch of class on the stroke of half-time. Wastefulness from both sides in midfield had typified the opening stages before St. Pauli winger Fin Bartels controlled a long ball inside the box while tumbling over and lifting a lovely finish over the stranded Ramazan Özcan in the Ingolstadt goal.

St. Pauli tried tightening the screw in the second-half, but couldn’t find the crucial second goal, and looked to have been pegged back by Ingolstadt centre-half Marvin Matip’s 80th minute header. The visitors were undeterred though, and after Florian Kringe missed his initial penalty, he kept his head amongst chaos around him to convert the rebound and send St. Pauli back to Hamburg with three points.

Ingostadt remain rooted to the foot of the table, and St. Pauli rise to fourth.
