Paderborn - Sören Brandy struck twice against his former club to lift 1. FC Union Berlin up to third in Bundesliga 2, leaving their hosts SC Paderborn the same number of places off the foot of the table with a 3-0 away win.

Brandy was somewhat fortunate with his opening goal just before the break when the ball fell kindly to him after ricocheting off Alban Meha, and he accepted the gift to thread the ball through Lukas Kruse’s legs. However, there was no luck involved in Brandy’s second goal, an unstoppable header from Benjamin Köhler’s cross.

Torsten Mattuschka made it three with a direct free kick against a generous Paderborn side who had their own chances, but failed to take them, a fact which is reflected by their league position.
