Berlin - A late Marcel Maltritz penalty secured VfL Bochum an impressive 2-1 win away to Union Berlin on Sunday.

The visitors were the more adventurous of the two sides in a tight-knit first half, with Yuseke Tasaka twice chancing his arm from range. VfL loan signing Richard Sukuta-Pasu failed to make the most of a presentable opportunity shortly before half time, but the away side got the goal their persistence deserved as Latza smashed home from 25 yards after the break. Damir Kreilach's wicked free kick looked to have rescued a point for the hosts late on, but Bochum were back in front just two minutes later courtesy of Maltritz's match-winning spot-kick.
