Osnabrück - Third tier side VfL Osnabrück have the advantage in the Bundesliga 2 relegation/ promotion play-off after a solid display earned them a 1-0 win over SG Dynamo Dresden.

Dresden made most of the early running, with Idir Ouali going close on two occasions, but after weathering the storm, the hosts took the lead when Gaetano Manno drove a shot inside the near post. Minutes after the restart, VfL then has a chance to put some daylight between the two teams, but Timo Staffeldt was thwarted by Dynamo’s Benjamin Kirsten from the penalty spot after a handball by Romain Bregerie. The Saxon outfit laid siege to the Osnabrück goal in the final stages but were unable to breach a resolute defence, and will begin next Tuesday’s second leg 1-0 down.
