Munich - The 1860 Munich board of directors has selected Hep Monatzeder as new president to replace the outbound incumbent Dieter Schneider.

The 61-year-old will take over the reins at the beginning of April, provided he is confirmed by both the extraordinary meeting of delegates and the club's general assembly. "I'd be delighted to be president, as long as the club members want me," said Monatzeder.

"That makes it clear whose interests I would be representing. I view myself as a team player who'll be wearing the captain's armband. It's very important to integrate our investor [Hasan Ismaik] into the team and I want to walk with him in a constructive and trusting manner."
