Munich - Erzgebirge Aue picked up their first win of the season at the expense of 1.FC Köln, who remain winless after three games after this 2-0 reverse at the Sparkassen-Erzgebirgsstadion.

Fabian Müller put the home side in front as early as the eighth minute, but Köln did not respond until the second half when they committed men forwards, but were caught out by Halil Savran in the 55th minute.

Sly Sylvestr

Jakub Sylvestr, who was decisive for Aue with two goals in the DFB Cup last weekend, wasted the first chance of the match in the second minute when his control let him down, but he made amends six minutes later to set up Fabian Müller, who beat the onrushing Timo Horn. Horn got the better of the livewire Sylvestr on the half-hour mark as the home side threatened a second, but it was Thomas Bröker who went closest to providing the second goal of the night, at the other end, as his effort struck the crossbar just before the interval.

Sucker punch

Köln had to react and they did with a furious start to the second half. But as they committed men forwards, they were caught with a sucker punch as Savran doubled Aue's lead. Sylvestr was once again the provider with a cross which Savran volleyed in from close range after seeing his initial header come back to him off Kevin McKenna. There was little stopping Sylvestr, who set up Guido Kocer with a chance to make it three in the 69th minute, but his shot was deflected behind. Köln could not find an answer, though, and Holger Stanislawski's men had to accept their second defeat in three games this season to remain inside the bottom two.
