Struggling Bundesliga 2 side MSV Duisburg have parted company with head coach Oliver Reck and his assistant, Uwe Schubert, with immediate effect.

The Ruhr district club made the announcement in the wake of Saturday afternoon's 3-1 home loss to Dynamo Dresden - a result which leaves them stranded at the bottom of the table without a point from their opening three matches.

Tough decision

In a statement on the club website, the MSV management said it had very reluctantly taken the decision to act, given that Oliver Reck and Uwe Schubert had stepped up to the mark under extremely difficult circumstances last season and succeeded in steering Duisburg clear of the relegation zone.

Sporting director Ivica Grlic will oversee training on an interim basis, with an announcment on the Zebras' new head coach expected before the Matchday 5 trip to 1. FC Kaiserslautern.
